WHAT TO EXPECT

WHO WE ARE

Hope Creek Church is a non-denominational church in Durham, NC striving to live out the Biblical command to love God, love each other, and love our city. This means worshiping and following Jesus not only with our words but also with the lives we lead.

Jesus is central to everything we do. We sing, pray, and preach in His powerful name. Our past, present, and future are centered on Jesus Christ. Our purpose on this earth is to make much of Jesus Christ.

"For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities -- all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together."

-Colossians 1:16-17

WORSHIP

We've all been created to worship. So when we gather on a Sunday morning we want to pour ourselves out for Jesus. We think you'll like the music you hear at Hope Creek, but it's not about you- it's about Jesus. So our aim is to encourage you to sing, clap, and even lift your hands if you feel comfortable, all for the purpose of praising and thanking Jesus for who He is and what He's done for you.

You'll hear a diverse range of musical genres and styles at Hope Creek as we attempt to reflect the ethnic diversity of our gatherings and the kingdom of God. Music is a part of the way we prepare our hearts to hear the word and respond to the word. All in all, the atmosphere at Hope Creek is casual, reflective and open to all. Come as you are.

TEACHING

We preach Jesus, and while this will likely mean you'll learn some things about how to be a better person, how to have a better marriage, or how to be more fulfilled in life--that's not the point. Because without Jesus, nothing matters. It's because of Jesus that we can be better people, only Jesus can make marriages better, and true fulfillment is only found in Jesus.

This means we teach from the Bible, because the Bible is all about Jesus. God uses the Bible to change our lives (2 Tim 3:16, Heb 4:12). So, on a Sunday morning you'll hear a 35-40 minute sermon straight from the Bible. Our goal is to communicate the truths of Scripture effectively and in a way that you can understand and apply to your daily life.

KIDS

We value your kids at Hope Creek because Jesus does. In fact, Jesus says in Matthew 14:19 "Let the little children come to me." Hope Creek Kids is built around the idea that Jesus is King. Each Sunday, your child will learn the Bible and how it relates to Jesus in an age-appropriate way. The lessons are fun, approachable and taught by committed volunteers who serve Jesus by serving you and your kids.

Our goal in Hope Creek Kids is to get kids excited about Jesus and families talking about him throughout the week. When you walk through the main doors of our lobby, you'll see signs directing you to the Hope Creek Kids classrooms on the lower floor of the building.
